Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel approved a substantial budget of Rs 316.78 crore on Saturday for the construction of a Ring Road in Vadodara, under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana. This initiative addresses Vadodara's continuous growth and expanding industrial areas, aiming to alleviate traffic congestion.

The Vadodara Urban Development Authority (VUDA) presented a proposal to the Gujarat Urban Development Mission (GUDM), highlighting the critical necessity of constructing the Ring Road. The approval will see the construction of a 66-kilometer long and 75-meter wide road.

In its initial phase, funds are allocated to construct a 27.58-kilometer stretch with a width of 45 meters. This phase will cover 10.70 kilometres in the eastern region and 16.84 kilometres in the western region. The Ring Road aims to ease traffic congestion on routes leading to major landmarks such as the Statue of Unity, Ekta Nagar, and the Mumbai-Ahmedabad National Highway 8, while also promoting development in the surrounding western areas.
