Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated and laid foundation stones for a series of development projects totaling Rs 184 crore in Hamirpur district on Saturday. The notable projects include a state-of-the-art Multipurpose Sports Complex at Kharidi in Nadaun, featuring an eight-lane swimming pool, shooting range, and various sports facilities. Developed with an outlay of Rs 65 crore, this complex aims to foster youth engagement in sports.

Addressing the gathering, Sukhu highlighted the government's commitment to promoting sports to steer the youth away from drugs and towards a healthy lifestyle. He emphasized that such multipurpose complexes are being established across the state to nurture talent and ensure the well-being of young individuals.

The event also saw the CM laying foundations for two farmers' training centres, aimed at empowering farmers with knowledge and advanced agricultural practices. The centres will focus on minor irrigation techniques, crop diversification, and strengthening farmer organizations. Additionally, Sukhu inaugurated road-widening projects and a Centre of Excellence at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, which will boost vegetable sapling production in the region.

Other initiatives include an automated milk processing plant in Kangra district and infrastructure improvements at the College of Horticulture and Forestry in Neri. The plant, costing Rs 250 crore, will have an initial capacity of 1.50 lakh litres per day, expandable to three lakh litres per day. The minimum support price for cow and buffalo milk has also been increased to support farmers.

The ceremony was attended by Ayush and Sports Minister Yadvinder Goma, MLA's Suresh Kumar, Ranjeet Rana, and other notable leaders and officials from the agriculture and rural development sectors. (ANI)
