25 Arrested After Mob Vandalism at RG Kar Hospital Amid Rape-Murder Probe

As many as 25 individuals were apprehended in connection to the vandalism at RG Kar Hospital on August 14, where significant damage was inflicted on the protest site, vehicles, and public property. Security officials intervened to control the situation, dispersing the unruly crowd that had gathered on the hospital campus.
The Kolkata Police, via their official X handle, announced the arrests, mentioning, "We have made 25 arrests regarding the vandalism at RG Kar Hospital on Wednesday night." Additional suspects were identified by netizens through social media posts. The police continue to hunt for the remaining suspects.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accused the Left and BJP of fostering unrest in the state. She claimed that BJP supporters were behind the vandalism and praised the police for their restraint during the ordeal. Concurrently, the CBI is investigating the rape-murder of a trainee doctor, which has ignited protests across the nation.
