The Border Security Force (BSF) conducted a series of coordination meetings in Indian villages near the Bangladesh border on Thursday. The aim was to alleviate security concerns among locals due to the ongoing situation in Bangladesh. BSF officials, along with village leaders, discussed border issues and reassured residents of their safety.

On August 7, gatherings of Bangladeshi nationals were observed near the International Boundary (IB) in two sectors, driven by fears of internal protests. The BSF's prompt actions ensured both the security of the border and the safety of those gathered. Approximately 35 individuals were successfully reassured and returned to their homes with the help of BSF, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), and local authorities.

In another sector, another group approached the IB, causing a brief commotion. The BSF quickly quelled the situation without incident. Furthermore, a significant infiltration attempt was foiled as BSF, in coordination with BGB, dispersed a large crowd near the border, preventing any breaches.

Contrary to rumours, the BSF clarified that there is no widespread migration of Bangladesh's minority population towards India. Those gathered were primarily motivated by fears of local unrest. The coordinated efforts between BSF, BGB, and Bangladeshi authorities have reassured these individuals of their safety. The BSF North Bengal Frontier continues to maintain border security vigilantly and is prepared to respond to any emerging developments.
