In a significant move to tackle illegal immigration, Delhi Police have deported nine Bangladeshi nationals who were residing in the national capital without proper documentation, an official revealed on Monday.

The individuals were apprehended following routine verification drives conducted in various areas including Jama Masjid and Nabi Karim under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) M Harsha Vardhan.

Among those deported were individuals who entered India illegally through agents and others who overstayed their visas in an attempt to acquire Indian identity documents. This marks a continued effort, with 14 deportations recorded in early January and five the previous year.
