Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday pledged a grand felicitation for wrestler Vinesh Phogat, equating it to the honor given to Olympic medalists. Addressing the situation on social media platform X, Saini expressed pride in Phogat's performance despite her disqualification from the 50 kg women's wrestling event.

Saini emphasized that Phogat will receive all the respect, rewards, and facilities provided to Olympic silver medalists. 'Our brave daughter of Haryana, Vinesh Phogat, performed brilliantly and entered the finals of the Olympics. Due to some reasons, she may not have been able to play the final of the Olympics but she is a champion for all of us,' he stated.

Phogat was disqualified for breaching the weight mark ahead of her gold medal match against the United States' Sarah Ann Hildebrandt. She had previously defeated Cuba's Yusneylis Guzman Lopez to enter the finals. Meanwhile, India has secured three bronze medals in shooting at the Paris Olympics, with hopes pinned on athletes like Avinash Sable in the 3000 Metre Steeplechase final.
