Amid an orange alert in Himachal Pradesh, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday forecast ongoing light to moderate rainfall across the state. Many areas, including Kangra, Sirmaur, Shimla, Solan, and Mandi, will experience continued precipitation, while regions such as Bilaspur, Una, Hamirpur, Kullu, and Chamba will face intermittent intense showers over the next few hours, the IMD stated.

The hill resort of Shimla is currently enduring heavy rainfall, accompanied by an IMD orange rain warning for the next two days. This relentless downpour has disrupted daily activities, posing challenges for both residents and visitors. The recent cloudburst and flash floods on August 1 have notably impacted the Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla districts.

According to the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA), landslides and heavy rain have resulted in the closure of 85 roads, including two National Highways. Additionally, 116 electricity supply schemes and 65 water supply schemes have been disrupted across the state.

A devastating cloudburst struck the Lahaul and Spiti districts on August 1. As rain continues to batter Shimla and other parts of Himachal Pradesh, authorities are urging residents and tourists to exercise caution and monitor weather advisories.
