The G20 Labour and Employment Ministers' meeting (LEMM) in Fortaleza, Brazil, culminated in the approval of a significant Ministerial declaration. This announcement came after a two-day conference led by Brazil, with notable participation from Indian Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Shobha Karandlaje. Brazil, India, and South Africa formed the troika for this event.

Key focus areas discussed included the creation of quality jobs and the promotion of decent work to drive social inclusion, eliminate poverty and hunger, and advance gender equality and diversity in the workplace. The declaration stressed the necessity for governments to implement active inclusion policies that support sustainable, inclusive economic growth.

Labor Ministers also underscored the importance of formal job creation, access to skills training, and lifelong learning. Additionally, policy measures to formalize jobs, respond to platform work, and promote social dialogue were recommended. On the sidelines of the meeting, Minister Shobha Karandlaje held discussions with Gilbert Houngbo, Director-General of the ILO, and Japanese State Minister for Health, Labour, and Welfare, Miyazaki Masahisa, focusing on enhancing worker mobility from India to Japan.
