Under rigorous security measures, a new group of pilgrims set off on Friday for the Amarnath Yatra from the Panthachwok Srinagar base camp. They are en route to the Baltal and Pahalgam base camps, seeking spiritual fulfillment at the holy shrine.
Prem Sharma, a participant, praised the facilities and security, stating, 'The base camp amenities are excellent. The CRPF ensures our safety to and from the camps. I will pray for Kashmir's safety, and I encourage everyone to undertake this journey at least once.' Fellow pilgrim Devendra Sharma expressed satisfaction with the arrangements, noting the high security standards and his desire to return.
Sunita Sharma, a pilgrim from Jaipur, highlighted the commendable security, particularly for women. This year's Yatra occurs against a backdrop of increased terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Amarnath Yatra, organized by the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, follows two routes: Pahalgam and Baltal, with the latter camping site located in Ganderbal district, Jammu and Kashmir.
This year's pilgrimage unfolds amid heightened terror threats. In a recent incident on July 15, a nighttime firefight in Doda district's Bhatta area resulted in the deaths of four soldiers. Another encounter in Kastigarh, Doda district, saw joint efforts by the Jammu and Kashmir police and the army to search for terrorists.
The Yatra commenced on June 29 and will conclude on August 19, spanning 52 days. Devotees of Lord Shiva undertake this rigorous pilgrimage to the revered cave in the Kashmir Himalayas. (ANI)
