Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, the Executive Chairperson of Biocon Limited, has endorsed the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

Shaw noted that the budget builds on the government's Interim Budget with positive indicators for India's economic growth. She praised the focus on job creation through skilling, emphasizing internships with stipends from the government and CSR funding as crucial for employability.

The budget also targets the start-up ecosystem, especially through the abolition of the 'angel tax' to encourage investment and ease of doing business, benefiting MSMEs. Highlighting the government's attention to research and innovation, Shaw welcomed the Rs 1 lakh crore financial pool aimed to drive private sector-led research. She also urged the government to consider GST exemptions on all cancer drugs for better affordability.
