IIT Kharagpur's Research Park: Boosting Start-Ups and Innovations

IIT Kharagpur is stepping up its support for start-ups via its Research Park located in Rajarhat, Kolkata, according to director V K Tewari. The park is dedicated to fostering a dynamic environment for cutting-edge research and entrepreneurship.
The Research Park provides academic credits for start-up initiatives, supports faculty-led projects, and facilitates alumni start-ups. It spans around 180,000 square feet and is funded by the Ministry of Education, serving as a central hub for national missions, industry collaborations, and R&D activities.
Recently, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Union Minister of State for Education Sukanta Majumdar visited the park, interacting with researchers and TCS consultants. TCS has allocated roughly 30,000 square feet of the park for its R&D team. The park also facilitates the commercialisation of innovations, interdisciplinary research, and technology transfer while providing specialised training programmes.
