West Bengal Leader of Opposition (LoP) Suvendu Adhikari commended the Union Budget 2024 presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday, declaring it as a significant step towards Viksit Bharat. 'The Union Budget 2024-25 is an effort towards the journey of Viksit Bharat, fortifying the sectors which will help achieve the target,' Adhikari stated in a post on 'X'.

Adhikari outlined the nine priorities set forth in the Union Budget, including productivity in agriculture, employment, human resource development, manufacturing, urban development, energy security, infrastructure, innovation, and next-generation reforms. He emphasized that this budget would enhance opportunities for all sectors and pave the way for India to become a developed nation.

'This Budget will harness & propel the power of Bharat's youth, Nari Shakti, and Farmers, while accelerating the nation's pace of becoming a developed nation and usher in a new era of employment,' Adhikari remarked. He expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for what he termed a 'pro-development budget'.

Similarly, BJP MP Sukanta Majumdar praised the budget for its focus on job creation and specific plans for the eastern part of the country. 'This budget has paid maximum emphasis on job creation. The government has announced plans and funding for the Eastern part of the country,' Majumdar commented. Speaking on the diverse scope of the budget, Majumdar noted allocations for critical minerals to space research, increased MUDRA loans, and decreased interest on education loans, dubbing it a holistic budget. The Finance Minister presented the first Union Budget of the Modi 3.0 government, marking her seventh consecutive one, on Tuesday. The budget session of Parliament, which began on July 22, is scheduled to conclude on August 12.
