Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav attended a Raksha Bandhan event in Bhopal's Huzur assembly constituency on Saturday, despite the rainy weather. A significant number of women participated, tying Rakhis to the chief minister and presenting him with a grand one, enhancing the festive atmosphere.

CM Yadav reiterated the government's commitment to women's empowerment, highlighting numerous welfare programs in place to support women. 'To celebrate and honor women, Raksha Bandhan festivities are organized across communities and government levels,' he said. Yadav also announced a future increase in women's representation in the Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha, and local bodies, attributing the initiative to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's nationwide campaign for women's empowerment.

The chief minister underscored the cultural significance of Indian festivals, noting that while Lakshmi is worshipped for prosperity during Diwali, heartfelt reverence is shown to various deities throughout the year. He emphasized the honor and respect shown to sisters during Raksha Bandhan and looked forward to Janmashtami, celebrating Lord Krishna's birth.

Yadav also mentioned criticism from some quarters, presumably referring to Congress, regarding the celebration of Janmashtami. Meanwhile, BJP MLA Rameshwar Sharma from the Huzur constituency noted CM Yadav's popularity among women, often presenting them with gifts and implementing various welfare programs that benefit all segments of society.
