Finance Minister Retains NHAI Budget Allocation for 2024-25
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has retained the allocation for the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) at Rs 1.68 lakh crore for the fiscal year 2024-25. The pre-election budget had also specified a similar outlay for the highways sector. This allocation underscores the government's commitment to infrastructure development.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday confirmed that the allocation for the state-owned National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) would remain at Rs 1.68 lakh crore for the 2024-25 fiscal year.
Earlier this year, in her pre-election Budget, Sitharaman had earmarked Rs 1.68 lakh crore for NHAI in the same period.
The Budget for 2024-25 also kept the total outlay for the highways sector at Rs 2.78 lakh crore, mirroring the figures from the early Budget document. This follows a slight revision from the initial Rs 2.70 lakh crore allocation for 2023-24 to Rs 2.76 lakh crore.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) play pivotal roles in the construction of national highways and expressways in the country.
