Zimbabwe is preparing to welcome South Africa and New Zealand for a cricket extravaganza, consisting of a two-Test series and a T20I triangular series, running from June 28 to August 11. This season marks Zimbabwe's first Test matches against South Africa since 2017 and against New Zealand since 2016. Zimbabwe Cricket's managing director, Givemore Makoni, highlighted the significance of this home season, calling it the biggest in years, as reported by ESPNcricinfo.
Starting with a Test series against South Africa in Bulawayo on June 28 and July 6, the series will be followed by a T20I triangular series. From July 14 to July 24, the teams will compete twice in the league phase in Harare, leading to a final showdown between the top two teams on July 26. Afterward, the focus shifts back to Bulawayo for the Test series against New Zealand from July 30 to August 7.
Makoni expressed excitement about hosting these significant matches, anticipating a tremendous opportunity for local players to challenge themselves against elite competition. He emphasized that this season is critical for developing cricket in Zimbabwe and enhancing the sport's local appeal. The last T20I tri-nation series hosted by Zimbabwe was in 2018, featuring Australia and Pakistan, with Pakistan emerging victorious.
