An MoU was signed on Friday between the Airports Authority of India (AAI), the Urban Development Department, the Rajasthan government, and the Civil Aviation Department for developing Kota Greenfield Airport in Rajasthan. According to an official AAI press release, the Rajasthan government will provide land, while AAI will manage construction, development, and operation.

The Greenfield airport in Kota will be constructed on 440.086 hectares, with a Detailed Project Report (DPR) being prepared by AAI. The MoU was signed in the presence of Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma.

The MoU signatories included AAI Chairman Sanjeev Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary to CM Sharma, and Civil Aviation, Shikhar Agarwal, and Rajasthan's Principal Secretary to the Urban Development and Housing Department, T. Ravikant. The new airport will place Kota on the Indian Aviation Map, boosting connectivity and regional growth.

On July 3, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and held a review meeting over Kota Greenfield Airport in the national capital. The Minister stated that the Ministry is committed to the project, with directives for prompt preparation of a DPR, NOC, and other formalities.

The goal is to make the airport operational within two years from the start of construction. (ANI)
