In a significant announcement during Tuesday's Collectors Conference at the Secretariat, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy confirmed the details of the farm loan waiver scheme. The initiative promises up to Rs 2 lakh waiver for every farmer family possessing a land passbook, according to an official release.

CM Reddy clarified that ration cards are utilised only for family identification. While the state has 90 lakh ration cards, there are 70 lakh farmer accounts with bank loans. He noted that 6.36 lakh farmers without ration cards who took loans are also eligible for the waiver.

The Chief Minister stressed that the scheme won't discriminate against farmers lacking ration cards. He directed district collectors to convene with bankers at 11 am on Thursday, July 18, to ensure smooth implementation.

Reddy specified that the funds released for the loan waiver should exclusively benefit farmers, warning against any diversion of these funds. He added that in instances of misuse in the past, the central government took strict action against banks.

He announced that waivers up to Rs 1 lakh will be credited into farmers' accounts by 4 pm on July 18, urging for beneficiary gatherings at Rythu Vedikas where public representatives will join in the celebrations.

The release also mentioned the appointment of senior officers to assist district collectors with queries related to the waiver process, ensuring immediate resolutions.
