The 16-strong crew of the Comoros-flagged oil tanker 'Prestige Falcon', which capsized off Oman, are still missing. The crew consisted of 13 Indian nationals and three Sri Lankans. The vessel, heading to Aden, remains submerged. Search-and-rescue operations are underway by Omani authorities.
The search continues for the 16-member crew of the Comoros-flagged oil tanker 'Prestige Falcon', which capsized off the coast of Oman. The vessel carried 13 Indian and three Sri Lankan nationals and was reported missing on Tuesday by Oman's maritime security centre.
According to a separate statement to Reuters, the vessel remains 'submerged, inverted' near Oman's major industrial port of Duqm. The centre has yet to confirm the vessel's stabilization status or any potential oil leaks into the sea. Data from LSEG indicate that the tanker, built in 2007, was en route to Aden, Yemen.
Shortly after the capsizing incident, Omani authorities launched a coordinated search-and-rescue effort with maritime authorities, as reported by Oman's state news agency. The port of Duqm, close to the nation's significant oil and gas mining projects, is part of Oman's largest economic development zone.
