Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi honored sand artist Sudarshan Pattnaik at his Bhubaneswar residence on Saturday. Pattnaik clinched the prestigious Golden Sand Master Award with a gold medal at the International Sand Sculpture Championship in St. Petersburg, Russia, according to the Chief Minister's office.

Chief Minister Majhi emphasized that Pattnaik's achievements have not only highlighted his personal talent but have also brought pride to Odisha. The CM noted that Pattnaik continues to excel in sand art, having won numerous national and international accolades. He expressed hope for Pattnaik's future successes.

At the championship, Pattnaik crafted a 12-foot sand sculpture of Mahaprabhu Jagannath and Balaram Das, a renowned 14th-century poet. His work garnered him a gold medal. The event, held from July 4-12, featured 21 master sand sculptors from around the globe, with Pattnaik being the only participant from India.
