Deadly Israeli Strike in Lebanon Kills 10 Syrians Amid Escalating Conflict
An Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon resulted in the deaths of at least 10 Syrian nationals, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry. The strike occurred in Nabatieh province amid ongoing tensions between Hezbollah and the Israeli military. Both sides have been engaged in conflict since Oct. 8, following an attack by Hamas on southern Israel.
An Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon early Saturday claimed the lives of at least 10 Syrian nationals, according to Lebanon's Health Ministry.
The strike targeted Wadi al-Kfour in Nabatieh province and is considered one of the deadliest attacks in Lebanon since Hezbollah and the Israeli military began exchanging strikes on Oct. 8, following an assault by Hamas on southern Israel. Hezbollah stated it would cease attacks once a Gaza cease-fire is achieved.
A Lebanese Health Ministry spokesperson reported that among the deceased were a woman and her two children, with five others injured, two critically. According to Avichay Adraee, an Arabic-language spokesperson for the Israeli military, the strike targeted a weapons depot belonging to Hezbollah. Mohammad Shoaib, a local slaughterhouse operator, contended the hit area was industrial and civilian.
Hezbollah and Israel, which previously fought a six-week war in 2006, saw more than 500 fatalities since Oct. 8, primarily fighters, but also around 100 civilians, bringing the region to a precarious brink.
