Former Air Chief Marshal (retired) RKS Bhadauria highlighted the critical need for self-reliance in India's defense sector, terming it as the foundation for achieving a developed nation. Speaking exclusively to ANI, Bhadauria said that the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, championed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to make India and its citizens self-sufficient in every aspect.

In response to queries on the impact of indigenization on defense deals, Bhadauria stated, "Atmanirbharta in defense is the strongest pillar for 'Viksit Bharat.' We must focus more on indigenous design and manufacturing rather than just assembly. Significant strides have been made in the last decade within the defense industrial corridors."

Addressing further developments, Bhadauria mentioned the reforms within DRDO, evolving DPSUs, and the essential role of the private sector. He pointed out the numerous challenges faced by private enterprises and startups, particularly in finance and tech development. He underscored the importance of investing in research and development to achieve self-reliance in defense, which would also bolster national security.

Touching on political aspects, Bhadauria commented on BJP's performance in Uttar Pradesh's recent Lok Sabha elections, expressing that the results were lower than his expectations. The Samajwadi Party secured 37 seats, while BJP won 33 seats according to the Election Commission of India.

On Prime Minister Modi's tenure, Bhadauria lauded the country's development over the last decade, citing advances in infrastructure, technology, and the financial sector, positioning India as a global leader in many areas.
