Poldark Season 5 to mark end to Aidan Turner-starring series, cast, antagonist revealed
Since Poldark Season 4 dropped its finale in July 2018, fans are passionately looking towards Season 5’s production updates. They want to know who in the cast are, how old Captain Ross Poldark (Aidan Turner) will be, and mainly the premiere date.
The completion of Poldark Season 5’s filming was announced by Eleanor Tomlinson (who plays the role of Demelza Poldark) during the start of February in a post on Instagram. Many believe that ‘The Stranger from the Sea’ is the book that has been adapted for the fifth season with the action kicking off during the starting period of 19th century (around 1810). This is the main cause why the viewers will see a jump of over a decade in the plot since the previous season.
In a Twitter post released around a month back, the production company Mammoth Screen tweeted that the production team was still editing Season 5 of Poldark. This indicates that it will take more weeks with lot more dedicated efforts.
However, many believe Poldark Season 5 is going to be call an end to the British historical period drama series, which is based on the novels of the same title by Winston Graham. This was hinted by one of the executive producers, Debbie Horsfield to the media. “As far as we’re concerned it’s going to be the last,” Horsfield said, Radio Times noted.
The production team including the series creators are tight-lipped about casting for fifth season and its storyline. ‘The Stranger from the Sea’ focuses on Stephen Carrington, rescued by Jeremy Poldark from the titular sea. The Poldark family awaits the return of Ross (Aidan Turner) from his mission to Wellington’s army in Portugal. But their ordered existence ends with Jeremy Poldark’s dramatic rescue of the stranger from the sea.
In the upcoming Poldark Season 5, Elise Chappell, Wilde, Norris and Harry Richardson are also likely to return as Morwenna, Caroline, Dwight and Drake respectively. It is also revealed that the viewers will be amazed to see the returning of Jack Farthing as the antagonist named George Warleggan. But the portrayal of Warleggan will be through flashbacks as he already died in the previous season. As far as the premiere is concerned, many spoilers claim that it has postponed the current year.
