Kashmir Marathon: A Run Towards Peace and Heritage
The first international Kashmir Marathon takes place with 2000 participants, including top athletes. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, alongside Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty, launched the first international Kashmir Marathon on Sunday. This landmark event saw the participation of around 2000 athletes from across India and beyond.
The marathon featured prominent long-distance runners, including Indian and Asian gold medallists, as well as athletes from Europe and Africa, competing in 42-km and 21-km categories.
Organised by the Department of Tourism, the marathon was designed to demonstrate Kashmir's improving conditions, with Tourism Director Raja Yaqoob highlighting its potential to attract global tourists and showcase Kashmir's heritage.
