The Maharashtra cabinet has taken a significant step towards supporting media professionals by approving the establishment of two separate corporations dedicated to journalists and newspaper vendors.
A statement from the Chief Minister's Office revealed that these corporations would focus on enhancing the welfare of these groups.
Currently, the state offers monthly financial support to retired accredited journalists and provides financial assistance for health-related issues to accredited media personnel and their families.
