An Indian Air Force helicopter launched a search operation early Friday morning for two stranded foreign mountaineers in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district.

The State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC) reported that the rescue began at 8 am after the mountaineers, one American and one British, found themselves stranded at Chaukhamba's 6,500-meter altitude.

Efforts are ongoing, with the Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority and various state agencies collaborating with the IAF to ensure a successful rescue mission.
