Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday called upon the residents of Andhra Pradesh to commit to transforming the state into 'Swach Andhra Pradesh' by 2029.

Emphasizing uncompromising dedication, Naidu made the appeal during a public meeting in Machilipatnam, marking the Swachta hi Seva initiative aligned with Gandhi Jayanthi.

Naidu announced the removal of garbage tax starting today, committing to introduce this change in the cabinet. He underscored the role of technology in maintaining cleanliness, mentioning the potential use of surveillance cameras and drones to manage waste.

He highlighted the successes of drone usage during recent floods in Vijayawada, aiding in food delivery and garbage identification.

Additionally, Naidu paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi and participated in a community cleaning drive. He acknowledged the birthplace of the Indian flag designer Pingali Venkayya, promising to establish a medical college in his honor. Further, he outlined plans for developing local commerce including Machilipatnam beach and thriving sweet and gold businesses.

The Chief Minister inspected the ongoing Machilipatnam port project, committing to its completion by 2025.
