Chanel's Spectacular Return to Grand Palais with Spring-Summer Show

Chanel marked its triumphant return to the Grand Palais on Tuesday with a spectacular spring-summer runway show. The event showcased an eclectic mix of sparkly tweed ensembles and was highlighted by a singing performance from actor Riley Keough.

Guests arrived in droves, emerging from black town cars, fully adorned in Chanel, and entered through the grand entrance, now freshly named after the label's founder Gabrielle Chanel. The Grand Palais, famous for hosting dramatic fashion shows by late designer Karl Lagerfeld, had been closed for renovations since 2021, funded by Chanel, and it has reopened in time for the Paris Olympics fencing competition this summer.

For the runway show, a giant bird cage dominated the center of the space, reminiscent of a 1990s Chanel perfume advertisement featuring Vanessa Paradis. Models showcased an array of tweed looks, including slit mini-skirts, loose trousers, and dresses, decorated with lightweight capes, fringes, and bows. Accessories included feather-like decorations on sunglasses and handbags resembling bird cages. Keough, dressed in black with silver platform heels, performed Prince's 'When Doves Cry' before being lifted on a swing for the grand finale. The collection was designed by Chanel's studios, awaiting a new designer after Virginie Viard's departure in June.
