The Samajwadi Party and Congress on Tuesday vociferously criticized the BJP over the Ayodhya rape case. According to a state government report submitted to the high court, the DNA of SP leader Moeed Ahmad did not match that of the aborted foetus.

The UP government report, presented to the Allahabad High Court, indicated that the DNA of the foetus matched Ahmad's employee Raju, a co-accused in the case.

SP MP from Faizabad, Awadhesh Prasad, targeted the Yogi Adityanath government, asserting that if the high court had not demanded the DNA report, the government would have withheld it.

Prasad argued that the BJP has wrongfully accused Moeed Ahmad to defame Muslims and alleged that the message spreading throughout the country is that the government is anti-Muslim, anti-Dalit, and anti-constitution. He predicted these actions would lead to the BJP's downfall in the 2027 elections.

Congress state president Ajay Rai joined in, condemning the BJP for jailing Ahmad and demolishing his house with a bulldozer in Ayodhya, calling the actions atrocious and unjust.

Ahmad, along with Raju, was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Police on July 30 in connection with the rape of a 12-year-old girl. The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court sought the DNA report of the foetus during Ahmad's bail plea hearing, revealing that Ahmad's DNA was not a match, whereas Raju's was linked to the foetus. Ahmad has pled innocence, citing political conspiracy, given his age of 71.
