On Thursday, President Droupadi Murmu visited the Siachen base camp and lauded the soldiers posted there for their bravery in battling harsh conditions at the world's highest battlefield.
In her address to the troops, she praised their extraordinary examples of sacrifice and tolerance despite the severe weather conditions such as heavy snowfall and minus 50 degrees temperature. She expressed immense pride in them as the supreme commander of the armed forces, emphasizing that all citizens salute their bravery.
Murmu, dressed in Indian military attire, paid tributes at the Siachen War Memorial, which stands as a symbol of the sacrifices made by soldiers and officers since the commencement of Operation Meghdoot in 1984.
