Heroic Sacrifice: J-K Policeman Killed After Eliminating Terrorist in Kathua Encounter
A Jammu-Kashmir police officer, Bashir Ahmed, was killed during an encounter with terrorists in Kathua district. Ahmed's brave action resulted in the death of a terrorist. Two other officers were injured but are stable. The search for other terrorists continues, says ADGP Anand Jain.

A Jammu-Kashmir police officer was killed after he gunned down a terrorist during an encounter in a remote village in Jammu-Kashmir's Kathua district on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as J-K Police Head Constable Bashir Ahmed.
In continuation of the encounter in village Kog (Mandli), under Billawar Police Station's jurisdiction, Head Constable Bashir Ahmed made the ultimate sacrifice by killing the terrorist. He received fatal injuries in the exchange of fire, the J-K Police said in a press note. Two other officers, Sukhbir, Dysp Operations, and ASI Niaz Ahmed, also sustained injuries. They were airlifted for treatment.
The search operation for other terrorists continues, added the police. Earlier, ADGP Jammu Anand Jain mentioned arrangements for the third phase of the assembly polls to ensure public safety. Speaking to reporters, he said operations are ongoing to prevent terror attacks or violence during the elections, and they received intelligence about three to four terrorists in the area.
