Maharashtra minister Sanjay Bansode laid the foundation stone for a Buddha Vihar in Udgir tehsil, Latur district, on Sunday, promising that adequate funds would be allocated for its completion. He highlighted that development works worth Rs 6,000 crore have been approved to enhance infrastructure and create job opportunities in the region.
Speaking at Avalkondaj, Bansode emphasized that the Buddha Vihar should serve as a 'sanskar kendra', or centre for promoting and nurturing cultural, spiritual, and moral values. He mentioned that a grand Buddha Vihar, similar to one in Karnataka's Gulbarga, has already been constructed in Udgir and was recently inaugurated by President Droupadi Murmu.
Additionally, the minister outlined various government initiatives such as the 'Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana' for women, 'Mukhyamantri Baliraja Veej Savalat Yojana' for providing free power to farmers, and the 'Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojana' for senior citizens. He also noted the scheme offering three free cooking gas cylinders annually to eligible beneficiaries.
