Tragic Drowning of Schoolboys During Ganesh Idol Immersion in Odisha
Two schoolboys drowned in a canal during the immersion of a Ganesh idol in Odisha's Baripada district. The incident involved four Class 11 students who were swept away by the current. While two were rescued, Tanmay Kumar Behera and Dibyajyoti Sahu could not be saved, and their bodies were later recovered.

Two schoolboys drowned during the immersion of a Ganesh idol in a canal in Odisha's Baripada district, police confirmed.
The tragic incident occurred at the Subarnarekha canal in Laxmiposi within the Sadar police station jurisdiction. Four Class 11 students from Ranibhol Adarsha Vidyalaya School had gone to immerse the idol but were caught in the canal's strong current.
While two of the students were successfully rescued, the other two, Tanmay Kumar Behera and Dibyajyoti Sahu, tragically drowned. Fire services personnel later recovered their bodies. A case of unnatural death has been registered, and the bodies have been sent to PRM Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.
