The body of a female advocate, identified as Mohini Tomar, was discovered floating in a canal in Uttar Pradesh's Kasganj. Tomar had been reported missing from the district court gate in Kotwali Sadar since 2:30 PM on September 3.
Her face was brutally mutilated in an attempt to conceal her identity. Reports suggest that her body was thrown into the canal after the murder. Senior police officials, upon receiving the information, arrived at the scene to recover the body and send it for a postmortem examination.
A panel of doctors will perform the postmortem, which will be recorded on video. The murder has caused widespread shock in the area. A fellow advocate has claimed that Tomar was kidnapped and murdered from the District Court gate.
