Around 40 individuals were detained on Friday as they attempted to stage a protest in front of Town Hall against recent violence during a Ganesh idol immersion procession in Nagamangala, Mandya district, police said.
The protestors, some carrying Ganesh idols, demanded swift action against those who engaged in stone-pelting and vandalized shops and vehicles on September 11, police reported.
We detained around 40 people proceeding to protest without permission, according to a senior police officer. Clashes between two groups during the procession escalated, resulting in injuries, vandalism, and arson, police added.
