Tragic Ganapati Immersion: Father and Son Drown in Pune

A 45-year-old man and his son drowned during Ganapati immersion in Kamshet, Pune. The victims, Sanjay Shirke and his son Aditya Shirke, were residents of Bedase village. The incident occurred around 6.30 pm and the bodies were recovered by NGO rescue teams.

A 45-year-old man and his son drowned in a river at Kamshet in Pune district during Ganapati immersion on Thursday, according to police reports.

The victims were identified as Sanjay Shirke and his 21-year-old son Aditya Shirke, residents of Bedase village. The tragedy occurred around 6.30 pm while they were immersing their Ganapati idol, said a police official.

Rescue operations by NGOs Vanya Jeev Rakshak Maval Sanstha and Shivdurg Mitra led to the recovery of the bodies, added the official.
