Assam's Panchayat and Rural Development Minister, Ranjeet Kumar Dass, announced on Friday that over 1.71 lakh beneficiaries in the state will receive their first instalment under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) 2.0 during its national launch later this week.
Dass highlighted the expedited construction pace since the current administration, led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, took office in 2021. He noted, 'Since May 2021, we have completed 15,13,133 pucca houses under PMAY-G.' This marks a significant increase compared to the 4.20 lakh houses completed in the prior five years.
Dass attributed the faster implementation to improved work culture and enthusiasm within the department. He lauded the proactive work culture promoted by CM Sarma, who reviews the scheme with him every 15 days. Efforts to extend benefits to contractual employees, such as Provident Fund and child care, have also played a pivotal role.
