In a tragic incident, seven men were killed and three injured after being struck by lightning in Chhattisgarh's Balodabazar-Bhatapara district on Sunday, according to officials.

The incident occurred in Mohtara village this evening, while the victims were working in a field. They had gathered at the edge of a pond near their field during heavy rainfall when the lightning struck. The deceased have been identified as Mukesh (20), Tankar Sahu (30), Santosh Sahu (40), Thaneshwar Sahu (18), Pokhraj Vishwakarma (38), Dev Das (22), and Vijay Sahu (23).

The three injured individuals have been hospitalized, officials said. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and assured that all necessary assistance will be provided to the injured. ''My condolences are with the families of the deceased. I pray for the peace of the departed souls and the speedy recovery of the injured,'' Sai said.
