Indian-American singer and songwriter Lisa Mishra has successfully ventured into the world of acting with her debut in the series 'Call Me Bae,' starring Ananya Panday. Known for hits like 'The Wakhra Song' and 'Nadaaniyaan,' Mishra is now exploring her potential in acting.

In an exclusive conversation with ANI, Mishra expressed her disbelief over her new role, stating, 'I still don't feel it's real, so every day I wake up thinking if it's a dream or not.' She shared the process of landing the role, revealing her long-standing association with casting director Panchami Ghavri, and the numerous auditions she had to undergo as an untrained actor.

The series, with Panday as Bella Bae Chowdhary, features a star-studded cast including Vir Das, Gurfateh Pirzada, Varun Sood, and others. Mishra had high praise for Panday's dedication, noting, 'Ananya is so hard-working. She memorizes everybody's lines and helps out when needed. It shows how prepared she is.'

The role came with its challenges. Mishra attended workshops to perfect her accent and get into the character's mindset. 'It was more challenging to be this character than it was to do the accent switch. The character is very multi-dimensional,' Mishra said.

Recently, she released her debut full-length album 'Sorry, I'm Late,' which she described as a compilation of personal stories. 'It took me six years to come up with a project of my own. Every song is about an experience I had,' she shared.

'Call Me Bae,' produced by Dharmatic Entertainment and executive produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra, is now available for streaming on Prime Video.
