Indian-American singer and songwriter Lisa Mishra has carved out a niche in the music industry with hits like 'The Wakhra Song' from 'Judgementall Hai Kya' and 'Nadaaniyaan' from 'The Sky Is Pink.' Now, Mishra has ventured into acting with her debut in the Ananya Panday-starrer 'Call Me Bae.'

Mishra expressed her disbelief at this new career direction, detailing her casting process with director Panchami Ghavri. 'I've been working with Panchami for a long time. She mentioned a series with a role for me. Despite my excitement, I had to go through the usual audition process,' she shared.

The series, led by Ananya Panday as Bella Bae Chowdhary, also stars Vir Das, Gurfateh Pirzada, and Varun Sood, among others. Mishra praised Panday's hard work and preparedness, noting how the actress helped her navigate scenes. 'Ananya is meticulous and memorizes everyone's lines, constantly reminding me of mine,' she said.

For her role, Mishra attended workshops, focusing on accent adjustment to sound like a Mumbai local. She found embodying her multi-dimensional character more challenging than the accent switch. 'The character is empowered but broken inside, which was the most intriguing part for me,' she explained. Mishra also celebrated her debut album, 'Sorry, I'm Late,' which took six years to create and reflects personal stories.

'Call Me Bae,' produced by Dharmatic Entertainment with executive producers Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra, is now available on Prime Video. Written by Ishita Moitra, Samina Motlekar, and Rohit Nair and directed by Collin D'Cunha, the series marks Mishra's significant shift from music to acting.
