Superstar Shah Rukh Khan on Tuesday playfully ribbed his friend and filmmaker Karan Johar for focusing more on hosting chat shows than directing films. The duo, who will co-host the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards 2024, have previously collaborated on numerous successful projects like ''Kuch Kuch Hota Hai'' and ''My Name is Khan.''
During the press conference, Shah Rukh humorously questioned Karan's lack of recent directorial work, eliciting laughter from the audience and Karan himself. Karan, whose last film was 2023's ''Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani,'' agreed, admitting he should be making more movies.
The IIFA Awards, returning to Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, from September 27 to 29, will also feature hosts Vicky Kaushal and performances by stars like Rekha, Shahid Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor, and Kriti Sanon. This year's edition will celebrate both Bollywood and South Indian cinema, marking it the 'most Indian' IIFA yet, according to Shah Rukh Khan.
