The third installment of the Assamese martial arts-comedy trilogy 'Local Kung Fu 3' premiered in over 150 screens across the Northeast, actor-director Kenny Deori Basumatary announced on Thursday.

Basumatary revealed that the film industry in Assam has, for the first time, produced a trilogy, marking a milestone. With a budget of approximately Rs 75 lakh, 'Local Kung Fu 3' retains a majority of the cast from the previous films.

'The love we received for the first two films compelled us to continue with a third, but only when we had a solid story,' Basumatary said. He also highlighted that the film was released on Teachers' Day, which aligns with its central theme of the teacher-student relationship.

He pointed out that one of the film's highlights is its epic 72-step fight scene involving five heroes and 24 villains, filmed without cuts. This scene showcases the prowess of the fighting team, assembled from various parts of Assam.

The film also features actors from previous editions who have trained in martial arts together, bringing authenticity to the fight scenes. National Games Taekwondo Bronze medallist Rishabh Choudhury and his brother Ravi also play pivotal roles.

Looking ahead, Basumatary mentioned the possibility of a fourth film, but only if they have an exciting story to tell. 'Local Kung Fu' first released in 2013 with a minimal budget and became a sensation online, turning its characters into household names.

Basumatary expressed hopes to release 'Local Kung Fu 3' in more cities across India, including major urban centers like Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata.
