India and Singapore marked a significant milestone on Thursday as they elevated their bilateral ties to a 'comprehensive strategic partnership.' The two nations signed four Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) following talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Singaporean counterpart, Lawrence Wong.
In his opening remarks, Modi praised Singapore not only as a partner nation but as an inspiration for all developing countries. He warmly congratulated Wong, expressing confidence in Singapore's accelerated progress under its fourth-generation leadership. Modi highlighted the robust partnership in areas like skilling, digitalisation, and advanced manufacturing.
The two leaders reviewed various facets of their bilateral relationship, focusing on sectors such as healthcare, AI, and cybersecurity. They also agreed on the need to bolster trade relations. Modi, currently on a two-day visit, will meet Singaporean business leaders and visit a semiconductor manufacturing facility among other engagements.
