Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin announced Wednesday the signing of MoUs with Eaton, a multinational power management firm, for a Rs 200 crore expansion of its R&D and engineering centre in Chennai. This move is expected to generate 500 new jobs.

In addition, a pact with Assurant, a risk management solutions provider, was secured to establish its first Global Capability Centre in India, located in Chennai. "Exchanged MoUs with Eaton for a Rs 200 crore R&D and engineering centre expansion in Chennai, creating 500 jobs. Also secured Assurant's first Global Capability Centre in India, coming soon to Chennai," CM Stalin posted on X.

On an official visit to the United States, CM Stalin aims to attract investments and support for Tamil Nadu's economic growth. On August 31, 2024, an agreement was reached with Ohmium to set up a new factory in Chengalpattu producing electrolysers and green hydrogen with a Rs 400 crore investment, creating 500 jobs. Stalin highlighted this as a pivotal step toward a green energy future on X.

On August 30, 2024, meetings were conducted with senior executives from Apple, Google, and Microsoft, seeking investments in Tamil Nadu. During his US visit, an MoU was signed with Google to establish artificial intelligence labs. On August 29, 2024, at an investors' conference in San Francisco, MoUs with six global firms including Nokia, PayPal, and Microchip were signed, totaling Rs 900 crores and 4,100 jobs.
