B Unnikrishnan, General Secretary of the Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA), addressed allegations regarding 'power groups' in the Malayalam cinema industry on Sunday, stating he was unaware of any such entities as mentioned in the Justice K Hema Committee report.

Speaking to a TV channel, Unnikrishnan conceded that there are 'strong alliances' among certain production houses, directors, writers, and actors. He emphasized that these alliances are driven by commercial interests and are not limited to Malayalam cinema.

Unnikrishnan rejected the notion of secret lobbies within the industry that aim to isolate certain individuals. He argued that such a system would hinder the industry's functionality. The FEFKA leader also highlighted that the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) is currently struggling due to its loose organizational structure.
