Senior Congress leader Nana Patole has asserted that an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the collapse of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's statue is inadequate, stating it has 'hurt the pride of Maharashtra.'
PM Modi, during a speech in Palghar, apologized to the people of Maharashtra and revered the 17th-century warrior as a deity.
The statue, unveiled by Modi in December 2023, fell in August, leading to severe criticism and allegations of negligence from Congress, who condemned the Maharashtra government for hastily installing the statue and accused the BJP of using Shivaji's name merely for electoral gains.
