Pa Ranjith Aims to Tackle Caste Divide Through New Film 'Thangalaan'
Director Pa Ranjith plans to use his new film 'Thangalaan' to address caste issues in India. 'Thangalaan', featuring actor Vikram, is set in the 19th century Kolar Gold Fields and is slated for release in Hindi on September 6.

Director Pa Ranjith on Monday said he aims to address the caste divide in India through cinema, with his latest release, 'Thangalaan', marking a significant step in this direction.
Belonging to the Dalit community and a devoted follower of social reformer Dr BR Ambedkar, Ranjith credits Ambedkar's teachings for shaping his perspective over the years.
Set against the backdrop of the 19th-century Kolar Gold Fields during British exploitation, 'Thangalaan' stars Vikram, who underwent a physical transformation for the role. The film, produced by Studio Green, will release in Hindi on September 6.
