In a significant development, a Bengali actor's allegations of misconduct against renowned Malayalam director Ranjith have escalated tensions in Kerala. The accusations prompted the Congress party's youth wing to lodge formal complaints with the police.
State Youth Congress President Abin Varkey filed a complaint with the State police chief, demanding immediate action against Ranjith. In response, Youth Congress activists staged protests outside the resort in Wayanad district where Ranjith was staying, and marched to the official residence of state Culture Minister Saji Cherian, calling for his resignation.
The controversy has reignited discussions on harassment in the film industry, with veteran actress Urvashi urging the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) to take a firm stance.
