Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday stressed the importance of a nation remembering its past and deriving inspiration from its historical triumphs to safeguard its freedom. Speaking at the unveiling of Captain Anshuman Singh's statue at Budheshwar Square, he paid tribute to the bravery of soldiers who risk their lives to ensure the country's security.

Adityanath underscored the collective respect and affection Indians have for military personnel, which he believes boosts the morale of soldiers and their families manifold. Captain Anshuman Singh, honored posthumously with the Kirti Chakra, lost his life in July last year while battling enemy forces in Siachen.

The CM also noted his administration's ongoing support since 2017 for the families of police and security force members killed in action, providing Rs 50 lakh in compensation and a government job to one family member.
