Karan Johar Celebrates 23 Years of 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' with New Series 'Call Me Bae'

'Call Me Bae', the new Prime Video series produced by Karan Johar, imagines the daughter of 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' characters Rohan and Poo. Starring Ananya Panday, the show follows Bae, a disowned billionaire fashionista turned journalist, on her journey of self-discovery and empowerment.

On Tuesday, producer-director Karan Johar celebrated 23 years since the release of 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' by discussing its modern derivative, 'Call Me Bae'.

Johar explained that if Rohan and Pooja from the 2001 film had a daughter, she would be the protagonist Bae in the upcoming Prime Video series. Played by Ananya Panday, Bae is described as a "glorious Gen Z 2.0 derivative" of Pooja, embodying a mix of fun and emotional depth.

'Call Me Bae' follows Bae, a billionaire fashionista disowned by her family, as she becomes a journalist and discovers herself. The series, directed by Collin D'Cunha, aims to blend humor with universal messages, making it relatable to both Indian and international audiences.
