The Delhi High Court on Thursday demanded the CBI elucidate the reasons for the severe waterlogging in Old Rajinder Nagar on July 27, when three civil services aspirants died after drowning in a coaching basement.

The court has reserved its decision on the bail pleas of the basement's jailed co-owners—Parvinder Singh, Tajinder Singh, Harvinder Singh, and Sarbjit Singh—in the criminal case regarding the deaths.

Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma questioned the CBI, "Was it just the rain or something else that led to such heavy waterlogging?" The High Court asked the CBI to submit a status report detailing the amount of rainfall received on the day of the incident and the role of installed gates at the coaching centre's entrance.
